Snowfall has started in Himachal’s tribal district Lahaul Spiti. The sky has been cloudy in Kullu area for two days. It is snowing in Rohtang Pass and surrounding hills. The administration has also issued an alert on the changing weather.

With the arrival of the month of December, the temperature has started to drop. Along with this, the period of snowfall has also started. Snow is falling in all the areas of Rohtang Pass, Kaza Mandal including Darcha, Baralacha Pass, Jing Jing Bar, Patseu in district Lahaul Spiti. Due to this there has been a significant drop in the temperature of the area. After the alert of the Meteorological Department, now the Lahaul Spiti and Kullu administration has become alert.

The Meteorological Department has predicted snowfall and rain in the entire region till December 6. The district administration has appealed to the local people and tourists not to go towards the high altitude areas. They may have to face damage due to heavy snowfall.

Himachal Road Transport Corporation Keylong Regional Manager Mangal Monpa said that in view of the snowfall, the bus service of HRTC beyond Darcha has been stopped. However, the situation is normal in the rest of the Lahaul Valley. Snowfall has started in the upper reaches of the valley. Bus service is still continuing in the interior parts of the valley. As the period of snowfall increases, it will be decided to stop the bus service in view of the condition of the road.
