Snapchat paid out more than $250 million to creators in 2021

Creators on Snapchat made some money in 2021! The social network revealed the amount its users were paid to create content on Spotlight. The platform had promised to pay $1 million a day to promote its tool designed to rival TikTok. So has the social network kept its promise? Well, it’s complicated.

That’s an impressive amount Snapchat given to its creators. In total, more than 12,000 creators have collectively received the equivalent of $250 million for Spotlight, a year after its launch, Evan Spiegel’s social network revealed. It is indeed a penny, but it does not exactly correspond to the amount promised by the company. The platform committed to paying creators a million dollars a day to publish content on Spotlight, with a constant flow of short videos inspired by it. TIC Toc, The strategy was designed to attract and win internet users and counter the phenomenon that is the famous Chinese social network. In fact, related creators received an average of over $20,000 each year for their content.

Snapchat continues to put more emphasis on its Spotlight tool. The social network will offer users a series starring Addison Rae, influencers discovered on… TikTok! Recently, Snapchat announced that it would be paying creators up to $25,000 for challenges on Spotlight.

To build its communication strategy, Snapchat has a steady hand of like influencers. In addition to former TikTok star Addison Rae, the platform has announced a partnership with the social network’s royal family, the Kardashians.

“In the coming year, we will continue to provide a variety of opportunities to meet the needs of creators as they grow their brands to entertain our community. And for our community, we’ll continue to make it even easier to follow and watch content from your favorite creators – whether it’s on Spotlight, Stories or Discover. Today, more than 25 Spotlight producers are also syndicating their shows on Discover, with more to launch in the coming months,” Snap revealed in its press release.
