Slipper hurled at Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa during ‘Kranti’ promotional event, Kichcha Sudeepa condemns attack

Vijayanagar: Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was promoting his upcoming film Kranti in Karnataka’s Hosapete on Sunday evening when an unidentified person hurled a slipper at him. A video of the incident went viral, in which the actor can be seen standing on a stage, when suddenly a sandal impinges on his shoulder. After the attack, police personnel immediately surrounded the darshan in terms of security. To pacify the fans in the gathering, the actor said, “It’s not your fault brother. It’s okay.” Darshan said, “This is an unexpected event.”

Darshan is visiting different places for his upcoming film ‘Kranti’. Even after the attack, Darshan attended all other programs as planned. Police is probing the incident to trace the culprits. The event took place during the premiere of a song from ‘Kranti’, which is slated to open on January 26. Darshan garlanded the statue of late actor Punit Rajkumar for the launch of the song.

Kiccha Sudeepa also condemned the act on Twitter. He also described the video as disturbing.

Darshan was in news for his recent comments on ‘Bhagya Devi’ during another promotional event of his upcoming film ‘Kranti’. The actor’s comments angered many, who called the statement misogynistic and disrespectful towards women. Darshan shot into limelight about a decade ago when he was arrested for abusing his wife.
