The 80-year-old singer, who lives in Mahim’s Machimar Colony in Mumbai, is living with the financial help of her relatives. The veteran singer has now asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to increase the monthly honorarium of the artists. According to news agency ANI, he said that the government gives him pension but it is not enough. He also said that the government should take care of those artistes who have earned respect for the country.

According to ETimes, while talking about her financial condition, the singer said that she has some relatives who help her in times of need. The veteran singer said that she does not get the right kind of royalties for her songs and is completely dependent on others. He also said that the government does not pay attention to artists like him who live alone and have no income.
In 1989, Pushpa appealed to the state government for a house, but her file could not reach a government official for the past 32 years. The singer mentioned that she tried hard to meet the minister concerned in Mumbai but only got answers like ‘he is not available’ or ‘he is on tour’.
