VADODARA: Anand district police arrested two persons involved in selling pre-activated mobile phone SIM cards. The cards were activated without the knowledge of persons in whose name they were obtained.
Acting on a tip-off, the local crime branch (LCB) of the Anand district police. Sleuths of the branch held one Amarsinh Talpada at the Sojitra bus stand.
Talpada was carrying two mobile phones and a SIM card. It came to light that he had procured it from one Anil Chauhan having his shop near the Sojitra bus stand.
The police raided the shop of Chauhan and recovered 16 cards and one phone from there. It came to light that he used to give the cards to Talpada who used to sell them.
Chauhan revealed that he used to activate cards by using data of persons who came to him for mobile connections. Chauhan used to do the activation of two SIMs instead of one. He has been booked for criminal breach of trust, cheating and other provisions.
