R Madhavan at SIIMA 2023.
R Madhavan made his first public appearance since he was nominated as the FTII President. He was seen at the SIIMA 2023 Awards.
The day 2 of SIIMA 2023 took place on Saturday night and one of the biggest stars present at the occasion was R Madhavan. The actor, who turned filmmaker last year with Rocketry, walked the red carpet of the prestigious event. The attendance marked his first public appearance since he was designated as the President of FTII Society and Chairman of the Governing Council. The actor was seen wearing an all-black look for the night.
In a video shared by a paparazzo, Madhavan was seen making his way into the SIIMA 2023 awards show venue when the crowd gathered close to the red carpet began cheering for him. Many were even heard chanting ‘Maddy, Maddy’. The actor posed for the cameras before he made his way inside. Watch the video below:
At the awards show, Madhavan was presented with two awards. The actor bagged the Best Debut Director for his film, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. He also won Best Actor in a Leading Role for the same film.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Madhavan will be the President of FTII. The news was confirmed by Union Minister Anurag Thakur on platform X (formerly known as Twitter). “Heartiest congratulations to @ActorMadhavan ji on being nominated as President of @FTIIOfficial and Chairman of the governing council.I’m sure that your vast experience & strong ethics will enrich this institute, bring positive changes, & take it to a higher level. My best wishes to you (sic),” Thakur wrote.
“Thank you so very much for the honor and kind wishes @ianuragthakur Ji. I will do my very best to live up to all the expectations,” Madhavan replied. His appointment was made shortly after he won the Best Feature Film at the 69th National Film Awards.
