SIIC helps IIT-K set up 10 oxygen plants across India. Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: The Startup Incubation and Innovation Center (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur launched Mission Bharat O2 in May 2021 to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, with the broader objective of promoting indigenous manufacturing at par with global standards.
The initiative led by Prof. Amitabh Bandyopadhyay, Professor-in-Charge, Innovation & Incubation, IIT Kanpur, Shrikant Shastri, Director, FIRST-IITK and President, I3G Advisory Network, and Rahul Patel, Strategic Initiatives, Startup resulted in Aquafront Infrastructure in UP, MP, 10 Oxygen Plants of 500 and 600 LPM have been successfully installed in Karnataka, Haryana and Bihar.
Mission Bharat O2 is another step towards SIIC’s vision of developing a self-sustaining health ecosystem in India. SIIC team working swiftly during first wave of COVID-19 pandemic to deliver ICU ventilators with Nokark and popular made-in-India N-95 grade Swasa mask with E-spin nanotech and indima fiber did.
In the second wave of Covid-19, AIPL designed and built PSA technology-based oxygen plants. It was supported by 2 SMEs based in Kolkata and Halol as manufacturing partners.
To make this initiative a success, SIIC brought in experts from different domains from across the globe. MBO2 mentors included Dr Arvind Rajendran (Canada), Devendra Choudhary (Switzerland), Monojit Choudhary, Nirmal Saraf, Sanjeev Verma, Sanjay Banerjee, Rajesh Raizada, Nagesh Pai (Canada), Sanjeev Madila (USA) and others.
Mission Bharat O2 is the result of continuous support from the government and private sector stakeholders.
The SIIC team and selected manufacturing partners received support from government organisations, including PSA Office, Investment India, Embassy of India in Japan and private and not-for-profit organizations including ICICI Securities, ANSYS, IITK’s Prime’83, NTData, Samhita Social Huh. Ventures, and the American Indian Foundation. Moglix, ANSYS, and Qnomial.
Prof Amitabha Bandyopadhyay said, “When the world was struggling to understand COVID-19 in 2020, the SIIC team delivered critical medical equipment within 90 days. Seeing the country in trouble, we had to intensify our efforts again. Mission Bharat O2 is the result of the team’s zeal to serve the nation with technology at par with global standards.
