Nomination for Rajya Sabha elections has started for 57 seats in 15 states. All the parties including BJP, Congress are engaged in continuous brainstorming regarding the candidate selection. Contenders aspiring to go to the Upper House are also constantly lobbying so that they can also get a ticket, but where is everyone’s luck like former Union Minister Kapil Sibal?

Kapil Sibal is currently MP from Congress quota from UP, but this time the party does not have enough MLAs in UP, who send him to Rajya Sabha again. Not only this, Sibal has raised questions on the Congress high command especially Rahul Gandhi in the past. In such a situation, it is believed that Congress hardly sends him to the Rajya Sabha.

Kapil Sibal did not even attend the Congress's Chintan Shivir in the past. He had fiercely attacked the Gandhi family during an interview in March.

Kapil Sibal did not even attend the Congress’s Chintan Shivir in the past. He had fiercely attacked the Gandhi family during an interview in March.

Interestingly, in Congress, where the suspense on Sibal’s ticket remains intact. At the same time, 3 opposition parties are preparing to send him to Rajya Sabha from their quota. According to sources, SP from Uttar Pradesh, RJD from Bihar and JMM from Jharkhand have made a mood to send Sibal to Rajya Sabha. However, he has not decided on which party Sibal will go to the Rajya Sabha.

Why are 3 parties trying to send Sibal, who is angry with Congress, to Rajya Sabha? Let us know in detail…
1. SP: Trying to help Azam by forwarding Sibal
Let’s talk about SP first. Recently, Kapil Sibal has played an important role in getting the interim bail of SP leader Azam Khan from the Supreme Court. After coming out of jail, Azam also read many ballads in the glory of Sibal. The special thing is that after coming out of jail, Azam has not met SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav yet.

Since the defeat in the UP elections, Akhilesh Yadav is constantly on the target of his own party leaders. After Azam Khan's release from jail, there is a lot of speculation.

If sources related to SP are to be believed, then Akhilesh is preparing to send Kapil Sibal to Rajya Sabha and shoot two targets with one arrow. With this, one will get a strong face in Delhi in the form of Kapil Sibal and the other will also be able to reach Azam Khan.

2. RJD: Sibal necessary for Lalu family trapped in legal troubles
RJD is making a mood to send Kapil Sibal, who is fighting the case of Lalu Yadav in the fodder scam, to Rajya Sabha from Bihar. RJD is sure to get 2 seats of Rajya Sabha this time in Bihar. In such a situation, the party wants to send Sibal to the Upper House on one seat. The main reason for this is being told that the Lalu family is caught in legal troubles.

Lalu is presently convicted in the fodder scam and his case is going on in different courts. However, Lalu is currently out of jail on bail.

Sibal is currently Lalu’s lawyer in the fodder scam case. Apart from this, there has been a CBI raid on Lalu’s hideouts only recently. Tejashwi Yadav and Misa Bharti have also been booked in one case. In such a situation, RJD is preparing to become legally strong by joining Kapil Sibal. Earlier in 2016, Lalu Yadav has also sent senior advocate Ram Jethmalani to Rajya Sabha.

3. JMM: Hemant engaged in saving CM chair in danger
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been in trouble for the last few days. He is accused of taking lease of mines while he was a minister. In this case, the matter of cancellation of membership is pending with the Election Commission. Along with this, the matter has also gone to the court. Kapil Sibal is representing the matter on behalf of Soren in the court.

Since the name came in the mining lease, there is a political flurry in Jharkhand. The case related to Hemant Soren was transferred to the High Court by the Supreme Court recently.

According to sources, if the Congress high command does not agree, then the JMM will send Sibal to the Rajya Sabha from its quota. Elections are to be held on 2 seats in Jharkhand, in which the ruling party is believed to get one seat. There is a possibility of a fight on one seat.

Front was opened against Gandhi family after defeat in 5 states
After the defeat of Congress in the assembly elections of 5 states including UP, Punjab, Kapil Sibal had opened a front against the Gandhi family. In an interview, Sibal said that not the Congress of the house, now it will be the Congress of all. He said- Rahul Gandhi is taking the decision even though he is not the president of Congress, while no one takes responsibility for the defeat. Congress has lost many elections under Rahul, so new people should be given leadership.

Long line of candidates in Congress for 10 seats
Congress is expected to win 10 seats this time in the Rajya Sabha elections. These include two seats each in Rajasthan-Chhattisgarh, one each in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. However, there is a long line of contenders for these 10 seats, including prominent leaders like P Chidambaram, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Kapil Sibal, Avinash Pandey, Ambika Soni, Vivek Tankha, Subodh Kant Sahai and Randeep Surjewala. In such a situation, it will be difficult to make a selection in front of the Congress high command.

Congress had recently announced in the Chintan Shivir that now people below 50 years of age will be given 50% stake in the organization and other posts.
