We are talking about Shyam Babu, who was recruited as a constable in the UP Police Department. And this did not stop his studies.
Shyam Babu is a resident of Ibrahimabad village of Ballia, Uttar Pradesh and his father had a grocery shop. He has five younger sisters and one elder brother. In 2005, he passed his class 12 board exams from Shri Sudisht Baba Inter College, Raniganj. After passing his 10th standard he was doing everything to get a job. And as they say, hard work pays off. In 2005, he was selected by the Uttar Pradesh Police Department.
While working, he completed his graduation in 2008. He did not stop here and completed his post graduation in 2012. Along with graduation, he also qualified NET.
He always considered giving the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) exam and kept preparing for the same. He appeared for Prelims in March 2016 and Mains in September. In 2018, the result of the same came in November. After two years, on 10 December 2018, he got a chance to interview. When the UPPSC 2016 results were released on February 23, 2019, Shyam Babu grabbed headlines and secured the post of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) by securing 52nd rank.
Shyam Babu Shah worked as a head constable for 14 years. When he became SDM, five of his sisters were married and his elder brother Umesh Kumar, an officer, was promoted to the rank of Inspector in the Income Tax Department.
Reports suggest that when the UPPSC results came, he was on his duty as a head constable like any other day and the deputy SP sent him to fetch a cup of tea. At the same time he got a message on his phone that he has passed the exam. When he returned with tea and informed the DSP on duty. Hearing this the DSP got up and bowed down to Shyam Babu.
