On the other hand, Iyer skipped a Ranji Trophy game for Mumbai, citing fitness concerns, although reports from the NCA contradicted his claims.
There are reports indicating that Iyer attended a pre-IPL camp for Kolkata Knight Riders, where he serves as captain, during this period. This development reportedly left BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar “furious,” as Iyer had complained of a back problem but was participating in the IPL camp. Ultimately, the BCCI selectors are responsible for determining the final contract list.
Shreyas Iyer, who finds himself out of favor in the Indian team, is now driven to showcase his abilities and make a statement as he returns to domestic cricket action. He has fully recovered from groin and back issues and will play a crucial role for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy semifinal against Tamil Nadu.
