Shooting for ‘Khuda Gawah’ in Afghanistan was like a dream for Amitabh Bachchan

The people of Afghanistan are fond of Bollywood movies. Many Indian films have been shot and premiered in different parts of Afghanistan. Amitabh Bachchan And Sridevi’s film ‘Khuda Gawah’ was highly appreciated there. Today, when the situation in Afghanistan is very bad, people are remembering the films which were shot there. When Mukul S Anand’s ‘Khuda Gawah’ was being shot in Afghanistan, the government of that time had made security arrangements. Former President of Afghanistan Najibullah Ahmedzai was a big fan of Hindi films.

The President gave half the air force of his country for the safety of Amitabh Bachchan. In an interview to Bollywood Bubble, Amitabh recalled his ‘Khuda Gawah’ days in Afghanistan and said that there were tanks and security personnel everywhere. He said that it was the most memorable journey of his life. Sharing an incident, he said that once he was invited somewhere, he left for that place in a helicopter with Danny Denzongappa and Mukul. Five other helicopters were flying with their chopper and it was an unforgettable ride. The aerial view was amazing, the hills sometimes looked pink and sometimes purple because there were poppy seeds everywhere.

When the helicopter landed in the valley, it seemed as if time had stopped. They could see something medieval. As soon as the people there saw them, they lifted their guests on their shoulders because according to their ritual the feet of the guest should not touch the ground. Bachchan further said that after shopping at the palace, he was taken to the ground where a traditional sport Bujakashi tournament was organized for him. Colorful tents were used for the decor and everything seemed like a dream. They had a lot of fun and spent the night there. It felt like a fairy tale to them. When they were returning home they were full of presents.

Mr Bachchan recalls that when he was returning to India from Kabul, he was invited to a royal banquet at the President’s residence. He had a great time there too. The people of Afghanistan loved Mr. Bachchan and treated him with great respect.
