Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a doctor was attacked by no one else but his own patient. Yes! The patient lost his cool and attacked the doctor who had asked him to keep the oxygen mask on. According to the publication Hindu, a case has been registered against a 65-year-old Covid-19 patient from Lonre for assaulting a doctor on Wednesday. The incident took place at Alibaug Civil Hospital where an elderly patient attacked a doctor named Swapndeep Thale on Wednesday.

The patient admitted with oxygen saturation level of 85 was on ventilator support but later this level increased to 92.

The 32-year-old doctor was requesting a patient on ventilator support not to remove his oxygen mask. The nurse also instructed the patient to wear a mask but he kept on rebelling. When the doctor was resting in his chair, the patient attacked the doctor. According to the report, when the doctor closed his eyes, the patient picked up the stand used to hang the saline bag and hit the doctor on the forehead. Fortunately, the doctors were able to avoid another blow after a ward boy came and dragged the patient. According to the report, the doctor has suffered injuries on his forehead and eyes.

Meanwhile, according to the Health Ministry, India has recorded 41,806 new Covid cases, 39,130 ​​recoveries and 581 deaths in the last 24 hours. With 8,602 new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Wednesday, the number of cases in Maharashtra has gone up to 6,181,247 so far. The latest figures showed that 170 more people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in the state to 126,390.
