Shocking: 2 killed as bus hits seven vehicles in Maharashtra’s Nashik

Nashik: Two people were killed when a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus rammed into seven vehicles in Nashik district of Maharashtra on Thursday. Police gave this information. The accident took place near Palse village on the Nashik-Pune highway at around 11.45 am, an official said. In Pune, an MSRTC bus going from Rajgurunagar to Nashik failed of brakes and rammed four motorcycles and two SUVs before ramming into another MSRTC bus coming from Sinnar, they said. “Two motorcyclists got trapped between two buses and died after their bike caught fire. One person was seriously injured. The bus coming from Rajgurunagar also caught fire,” the official said.

The locals broke the glass panes of the burning bus and rescued all the 43 passengers, he said. Two fire engines from Nashik Road fire station and one rescue van from Shingda Talav fire station were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control, the police official said. Some passengers of the bus that caught fire sustained minor injuries and are undergoing treatment at Byteco Hospital of Nashik Municipal Corporation, he said. The names of the two deceased are yet to be known.

“It appears that the brakes of the bus coming from Rajgurunagar failed, but more details are awaited. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time due to the accident and the rush,” the official said. On 8 October, at least 13 people were killed and 35 injured when a private bus caught fire after colliding with a truck on the Nashik-Aurangabad highway in Nashik district.
