The Trinamool Congress on Sunday announced that West Bengal Agriculture Minister Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay, who had vacated the Agriculture Minister. Bhabnipur The seat, which will be contested for Banerjee from there, will be contested from Kharda assembly constituency where the bypoll will be held on October 30.

In a statement, the party also nominated three other candidates – former MLA Udayan Guha for Dinhata, Brajkishore Goswami for Shantipur and local leader Subrata Mandal for Gosaba.

The by-elections had to be held due to the death and resignation of the MLAs. TMC MLAs from Gosaba and Khardaha died, while two BJP MPs Nishith Pramanik and Jagannath Sarkar resigned after winning from Dinhata and Shantipur assembly seats to retain their Lok Sabha membership.

In a notification, the Election Commission recently said that the last date for submission of nomination papers is October 8. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on October 11, October 16 is the last day for withdrawal of nominations.
