Every child’s childhood of the 90s was made memorable by actor Shivaji Satam’s portrayal of ACP Pradyuman in the long-running spy thriller CID. The actor recently shared that job offers have dried up in the past and the choice of roles is also dwindling. “I will not say that I am getting many offers. If not, then there is not. There is one or two offers which are not interesting either. I am from Marathi theatre, I have always done projects which I love,” the veteran actor said. Satam said in an interview with Hindustan Times.

Satam said that since his cop character from CID has become so famous, he only gets offers for such roles and added that he does not want repetition. “Main Kyun Karoo? I can’t do the same role over and over,” Satam said as he was “tired of staying at home.

The actor also opened up about the CID revival rumors that the same cast is returning to play the iconic characters. Satam said talks are on but nothing has been finalized yet. “Producers are in talks to revive CID in a different format. Yes, talks are on, but nothing concrete. It is still up in the air.”

Satam had earlier revealed how he reacted to the CID memes that are doing the rounds on social media. His famous dialogue, “Kuch toh gaddar hai, daya,” has been fodder for many meme makers over the years. Reacting to CID’s popularity among meme makers and his character, Satam had told Hindustan Times, “It was the most creative, amazing thing (laughs). Imagine, ACP’s statue with mustache and eyes. Of Liberty. How can it be? One even thinks of such a thing, how wonderful it is! What can be a greater and more wonderful compliment than this.”

CID premiered on 21 January 1998 and remains the longest running television series in India. The last episode aired on 27 October 2018.
