Shiraz: Trolls for Lakshmi Puja pictures, Ali Akbar’s grandson retaliates India News – Times of India

Kolkata: Sarod player Shiraz Ali Khan, grandson of the great musician Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, hit back at the trolls who took a dig at her for posting pictures of Lakshmi Puja Ceremony at their residence Shiraz married Atreyi Sengupta in January 2020. This is the first year that Atreyi celebrated Laxmi Worship at his Ranikuthi residence.
Atreyi told TOI that she grew up watching her mother worship Goddess Lakshmi. “I am glad that Shiraz supported me when I expressed my desire to perform this puja. My mother herself used to worship and read ‘Panchali’. I did the same on Wednesday. We want our child to grow up in an environment where he respects all religions.”
Though many appreciated Pooja’s picture Shiraz clicked and shared as her Facebook story, trolls jumped into the fray. “I was upset and disappointed to see a family friend from Bangladesh ridiculing my gesture. I do not support such behavior. That’s why I wrote a post saying that whoever believes this is the way to stand up for any community, I should befriend me. They should not join me or my family in future,” Shiraz told TOI.
Condemning the incidents of violence during Durga Puja In Bangladesh, Baba Alauddin Khan’s great-grandson explained that it was “important” that this Lakshmi Puja was held just days after that incident. He said, “Our worship gives the right message about my faith. I am glad that not only Hindus, but also many Muslim friends on my social media have supported me.”
The young sarod player has cited the influence of his grandmother – Zubeida Khan – who said she taught him to respect all religions. “He introduced me to the worship of Hindu deities, including” MAA Saraswati and mother black.
