Despite this, the rebel MLAs were not brought directly from Assam to Mumbai to keep Uddhav Thackeray out of reach. Instead, the rebels were brought to a resort in Goa.
But despite Uddhav Thackeray’s resignation, the name of BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis as the next chief minister of Maharashtra was floating around, and this caused concern among Shinde’s followers. Finally, this afternoon, when Devendra Fadnavis himself announced the name of Eknath Shinde as the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shinde’s followers were filled with excitement. Inside the resort, MLAs started dancing by singing songs on loudspeakers.

The press meet of Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde was shown on the big screen in the banquet hall of the Goa resort where the rebel MLAs are staying. The dance started as soon as Shinde’s name was announced. Some of them started dancing on the table. Eknath Shinde will take oath today at 7.30 pm. However, who will be in the cabinet will be announced later, Devendra Fadnavis said.
