Meanwhile, her sister Shilpa Shetty is all praise for the film and her performance.
Shilpa Shetty uploaded the trailer of the film on her Instagram handle. He captioned it, “The trailer looks fabulous! The picture is yet to come mate! Can’t wait to see you as The Tenant, my Tunki Shamitashetty_official! So excited for you! He shared the official handle and director of the film Also tagged Sushrut Jain. In response to this, Shamita Shetty said, ‘Thank you my monkey.’
Earlier in the day, Shamita Shetty also shared the trailer on her Instagram handle with the caption, “New movie alert! The Tenant is the story of a contemporary, independent and headstrong woman (played by Shamita Shetty) who lives alone in a world that is hostile and prejudiced. Sushrut Jain wrote and directed the film. From social prejudices to unusual friendships, the trailer gives us a hint of what to expect. It begins with a new tenant coming to live in a housing society, however, the members are not happy with him because of his lifestyle. Eventually, her past comes back to complicate her life further.
In a conversation Shamita Shetty told ET Times that since this is her first big screen appearance in 15 years, the film means a lot to her. He was last seen in the 2007 film Cash. She said, “It not only marks my return to the theatres, but also tells a story that very closely reflects a very prevalent and disturbing aspect of the society. The film has already received heartwarming love at international film festivals and I am glad that the story has found universal acceptance.”
Along with Shamita Shetty, the film also stars Rudraksh Jaiswal and Sheeba Chadha. The film is scheduled to release on 10 February.
