Congress MP Shashi Tharoor Expressed disappointment over Kerala not being allotted ODI World Cup 2023 matches. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday released the complete schedule of the 13th edition of the Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be played over 46 days from October 5. The main draw of the tournament will be played across 10 cities and Kerala is not on the list.

Issuing a statement after the announcement of the World Cup schedule, Tharoor said he was disappointed not to see Thiruvananthapuram in the list of venues for the tournament. “Disappointing to see that the sports hub of Thiruvananthapuram, regarded by many as India’s best cricket stadium, is missing from the World Cup 2023 fixture list. Notably, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala is one of the venues where the practice games will take place ahead of the start of the tournament on October 5. Announcing the venues for the tournament, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that Thiruvananthapuram is one of the 12 cities that will host the World Cup. cup. Along with Guwahati and Hyderabad, the city will witness warm-up matches ahead of the start of the main draw of the World Cup.

According to the released schedule, 48 matches will be played in 46 days in India. 10 teams will go head to head for the ultimate glory in cricket. England and New Zealand will play the opening match of the tournament on October 5, while India will open their campaign against Australia in Chennai.
