Shane Warne’s son Jackson says he is proud of his father despite complicated relationship

Shane Warne died of a suspected heart attack at his villa in Thailand on March 4. The death of the great leg-spinner shook the whole world. From Sachin Tendulkar to Brian Lara, all members of the cricketing community have expressed their deep sorrow over his demise.

The iconic Australian cricketer had led a controversial life, but he shared a warm and loving relationship with his three children- Summer, Jackson and Brooke. His 23-year-old son, Jackson Warne, recently said that he is very proud of his father despite the complicated relationship. Although Warne was divorced from his wife in 2005, his relationship with their children did not suffer. While Jackson has yet to comment on his father’s death, recently speaking to Channel 7 he said that he is proud of his father.

Jackson Warne was living in Melbourne with his father for the last 4 years. He said in an interview, ‘My life has not been the way I want it to be. Everywhere I go, people recognize me as Shane Warne’s son. I just want to be Jackson.”

Previously in Men’s Health Australia, Jackson said, “I just want to see Dad as a father figure. I don’t want to compare him to any other parent. I think he’s done a lot to me and my sisters.” Well done and I am proud of him. I went through an identity crisis because of him, but after all he is my father and I am proud of him.”

The cricket legend was once engaged to Liz Hurley, but they broke up due to her alleged cheating. After his divorce in 2005, he was linked to a series of women. Jackson said that although his father’s temper deeply hurt the family, he still loved his father.
