Flamboyant India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored his second Test century on the second day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali. Jadeja played with a lot of responsibility to put India in a comfortable position.
Jadeja scored a century a day after the death of one of his early cricket mentors, Shane Warne. The legendary Australian spinner died of a heart attack on Friday at the age of 52. Jadeja played under Warne’s captaincy in the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals. The spin icon was a huge fan of young Jadeja and used to refer to him as Rockstar.
Veteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh congratulated Jadeja for scoring a century and recalled when Warne named him a rockstar.
Harbhajan wrote on Twitter, “Well done @imjadeja Fantastic 100 Chalte Raho .. (Rockstar) Name given to him by the greatest ever @ShaneWarne @BCCI @StarSportsIndia.”
Jadeja played with a lot of maturity in the first session where he wanted to keep the ball in the gap to score valuable runs. The southpaw reached the triple-figure mark just before lunch break as he celebrated the feat with his ‘iconic’ sword festival. Whereas the all-rounder decided to hit back at the bowlers in the second session of the day when Mohammed Shami came out to bat.
Fans on Twitter also remembered Warne when Jadeja scored a century as they felt it was a perfect tribute to the Australian spin icon.

Responding to the all-rounder’s post, broadcaster Harsha Bhogle recalled the conversation he had with Warne, wherein Warne said that Jadeja is a ‘rockstar’.
“He loved you Jaddu. Remember the time of ’08 at the DY Patil Stadium… He called you and said to me, “This kid is a rockstar”. We talked about you more than once and he loved you and Yusuf dearly,” Bhogle wrote on Twitter.
