Shah Rukh Khan unveils John Abraham’s ‘Pathaan’ motion poster; says ‘He’s tough and plays it rough’ – Times of India

Shah Rukh Khan on Thursday surprised fans by unveiling the motion poster of John Abraham from his upcoming film ‘Pathaan’.

The actor introduced his nemesis by dropping a fiery poster on his social media handles and captioned it saying, “He’s tough and plays it rough.”

John, on the other hand, also shared the clip on his handles and teased, “I’ll let my action do all the talking.”

This poster comes a month after the makers dropped SRK and Deepika Padukone‘s action-packed motion posters. While this is our first close glimpse of the characters, the posters do not reveal their names.

Fans got their first glimpse of Deepika and John in character when the makers dropped a teaser trailer that announced 25th January 2023 as the official release date.

Directed by Siddharth Anand of War fame, ‘Pathaan’ will likely see SRK and Deepika form a tag team as they go up against John’s antagonist character. The film is reportedly set to feature Salman Khan in a cameo in the film that is set to open up a spy universe, a first of its kind in the Hindi film industry.

Speaking about the poster launch, Siddharth says, “Every announcement of Pathaan is like revealing a piece of an epic puzzle, in front of the curious eyes of the fans and audiences, leading right up to our release day. We aspire for every asset of Pathaan to be a big talking point mainly because, we fortunately have the content to create that buzz.”

About his decision to cast John as the villain, Sid says, “John Abraham is THE antagonist, THE villain of Pathaan. And I have always believed in the fact that the villain’s projection should be as big, if not bigger than that of the hero’s. Only when the villain is massive, can the tussle between them be spectacular. And we have an extraordinary battle when SRK takes on John! We wanted to present John in a super slick avatar.”

The director went on to add, “The first looks of SRK, Deepika Padukone and now John, truly represent the zone we want the audiences to view the film in. People have now just got a taste of the world of Pathaan. This truly is just the tip of the iceberg and I can assure you that nothing can prepare you for the action spectacle that is coming your way.”

This new poster launch comes amidst a social media trend calling for the ‘boycott’ of the film after past statements by Khan went viral online.

Pathaan is set to have a wide release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
