The Shah Rukh Khan starrer film Pathan was boycotted after the release of the song Besharam Rang.

A few days after the film’s release, Shah Rukh Khan addressed the Boycott Pathan call. Talking to the media on Monday, the actor was talking about the success of the film when he said that he wanted to give a message to the audience. He said filmmakers do good and bad things, but their aim is only to entertain.

“I want to say one thing which is very important. We make films to spread happiness and joy. Hum se mistakes bhi hota hai, achhe bhi hain buraiyan bhi hoti hai (We make mistakes, good or bad) but to be honest, our motive behind making films is quite clear. We want to spread happiness, love, kindness and brotherhood even though I am playing the role of a bad guy. None of us are bad, we are all playing a character to make you happy.” Shahrukh said.

“If we say something in the film, it is not intended to hurt anybody’s sentiments or anybody. It is just for entertainment. We love each other, and we joke with each other. Should be left to the people. No need to take it seriously. This is Deepika Padukone, this is immortal. Main Shahrukh Khan Hoon, main Akbar hoon, yeh John hai, yeh Anthony hai (I am Shahrukh Khan, I am Akbar and this is John who is Anthony). And that’s what makes cinema; Amar, Akbar and Anthony. None of us have any differences with anyone, any culture or any aspect of life. We love you, that’s why we make movies.”

He said, ‘Nothing is better than the love we get for our films. We have to preserve our culture, our old stories are embedded in this country. We have to tell the story in a modern way, and when we tell those stories, there is no way we are mocking anyone,” concluded the actor.

Pathan faced a boycott after the release of the song Besharam Rang. Protests also took place in some cities a few days before the release. Fortunately, the protest calmed down after PM Narendra Modi Warned fringe groups not to protest further releases.

Pathan crossed the massive Rs 500 crore mark worldwide in just five days. The film also broke many records in the opening weekend itself.
