Shaan opened up about his dropped song from Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki.

Shaan got candid about the dropped song from Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and how it would have meant the sun and the moon for him.

Renowned playback singer Shaan recently shared about a missed chance in Rajkumar Hirani’s movie Dunki, featuring Shah Rukh Khan. Speaking to Galatta India, Shaan expressed his regret, mentioning, ‘At this point in my career that song would have meant the sun and the moon for me.”

He went on to say, “To get to sing again for Shah Rukh Khan after Om Shanti Om, it would have been brilliant. The song was a beautiful duet with Shreya Ghoshal, it had great potential. It worked not just as a film song but had that ‘Hawayein Hawayein’ wala feeling. I was really counting on that but that’s life, it is okay.”

For the unversed, Shaan made a shocking claim about his song being replaced in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki. He said that his track was dropped and another song ‘O Maahi’ was kept.

In conversation with PTI, Shaan recalled a recent instance when his song from Dunki was dropped by the makers. “I was thrilled that I got to sing a Shah Rukh Khan song, but for some reason it was replaced by another song. So, these things (happen). The song, ‘O Maahi’ got on to become the popular song of that soundtrack, which is where my song was supposed to be slotted in,” he said.

O Maahi was sung by Arijit Singh who also another track Lutt Putt Gaya from the film. Dunki features an ensemble cast, with colourful characters portrayed by talented actors Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover, along with Shah Rukh Khan.

Released on December 21, Dunki follows the emotional journey of a group of friends who want to move abroad. The plot follows the exciting journey of those who choose an unconventional route known as the Donkey Flight, showing the difficulties they face on their way. Besides SRK, it also stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in key roles. The film earned over Rs 300 crore at the Indian box office.

Even though the film received a positive response from all, in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Rajkumar Hirani revealed that SRK was sure that even though the comedy-drama would win hearts, it wouldn’t rake the kind of figures that actioners like Jawan and Pathaan did.

Box Office Worldwide had reported that Dunki is likely to be submitted for The Academy Awards nomination. Even though there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now, if this turns out to be true, it will be Shah Rukh Khan’s third movie to be submitted for Oscar nominations. Previously, his 2004 movie Swades and 2005 film Paheli were also submitted for the prestigious awards nomination.
