It is a scorching heat in Himachal. The mountains are sweating due to the long dry spell. Due to this the mercury in 11 cities of the state has exceeded 35 degree Celsius. Una’s temperature was recorded at 41.7 degrees Celsius. The temperature is running 3 to 9 degrees above normal in all the cities of the state. Normally in the month of April it never gets so hot in the mountains.
Meteorological Department issued yellow alert
Good news is coming from the Meteorological Department. The weather may change in the state from today. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of thunderstorms and storms in some areas for the next three days. Particularly in some areas of Shimla, Kullu and Mandi districts, there may be damage due to storm, but the weather will remain clear in the plains.

Dry spell destroying crops
The people of the state have been waiting for the rain for a long time. Due to the long dry spell, the crops of the farmers are getting ruined in the fields itself. Along with agricultural produce, various fruits are also getting damaged. Garlic and ginger in Sirmaur district, apple and stone fruits in Shimla Mandi, Kullu and Chamba, wheat crop in Sirmaur, Mandi, Bilaspur and Una have been severely damaged. The forests are burning with fire. In such a situation, due to rain, the people of the state will get relief from the scorching heat.

99 percent less rain in Sirmaur
Himachal has received 93 per cent less rainfall in these two months from March 1 to April 27. Sirmaur district has received 99 per cent less rainfall. Similarly, Shimla, Solan, Una, Bilaspur, Mandi have also received negligible rain.
