A train derailed after a vehicle collision in southern Hungary early Tuesday, killing several people and injuring others. The accident happened just before 7 am in Mindsgent town. Police said a van went over the train tracks and rammed into a train, which derailed due to the force of the collision.
The Hungarian state railway indicated in a statement that all those killed were in the van. Told that 22 people were aboard the train at the time of the collision. Two people were seriously injured and eight others received minor injuries. According to unconfirmed reports from local news website delmagyar.hu, seven people died.
Songrad-Sanad County Police said they had closed the entire width of the road during an on-site inspection and rescue. Traffic was diverted on the surrounding roads.
