Several injured in clashes between two groups near Amritsar | Amritsar News – Times of India

AMRITSAR: As many as half a dozen people were injured during a clash between followers of a Nihang group and Dera Radha Swomi at Beas, near Amritsar, on Sunday evening.
According to reports, the scuffle was triggered following a fierce verbal dual between the two groups after herd of cattle belonging to Nihang’s Dera entered into Dera Radha Soami’s land for grazing which was objected to by Dera followers.
Sources informed that both sides pelted stones, bricks, or whatever they could lay their hands upon leaving as many as six persons injured.
Senior superintendent of police, Amritsar, rural, Swapan Sharma informed that police resorted to mild lathi charge to disperse both the groups. He said the situation had been brought under control.
An official press release informed that several persons were injured following a clash between followers of Dera Radha Soami and Nihangs.
Civil Surgeon Dr Charanjit Singh denied rumours of any casualty during the clash between the two groups.
He said the injured persons were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Baba Bakala, Civil Hospital, Amritsar, and Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar for treatment.
Unconfirmed reports suggest of firing during the clash, however it was not clear whether the warring followers of Dera Radha Soami, Nihangs or police opened the fire.
