Vadodara: Seven police personnel of Makarpura police station in the city including a police inspector (PI) were suspended for letting an accused in a gambling raid walk away without taking any action against him on August 13. Seven persons were held in the raid conducted in a society near Sussen Circle. However, senior officials got information that one accused who was the owner of the house, was allowed to go. DCP (Zone 4) Yashpal Jaganiya said a preliminary inquiry revealed that the owner of the house was allowed to go. “He was a prime accused in the case as his place used for gambling activity,” he said. Incidentally, the accused was arrested only recently. Those suspended include PI V N Mahida, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Rajendrasinh Ganpatsinh, head constables Tulsidas Bhogilal, Vinod Shankarbhai, constable Ishwar Chandubhai, LRD Jitesh Madhabhai, and Mansukh Bhanabhai. Rajendrasinh and Tulsidas have also been transferred to the city police headquarters at Pratapnagar. tnn
