A person traveling in the Shatabdi Express running between Delhi and Bhopal has shared the bill for charging Rs 50 service charge on tea of Rs 20. Tea bill is going viral in social media. Many users are taking a jibe on this, while many are telling the reason behind it.
Journalist shared the bill
Journalist Deepak Kumar Jha going from Delhi to Bhopal has shared the bill of tea received in Shatabdi train on Twitter. Deepak said that on tea worth Rs 20, GST of Rs 50. Altogether a tea worth Rs 70. Isn’t it great loot?
Deepak says that many such complaints are made, but IRCTC and the Ministry of Railways have no louse on their ears and under the guise of this ‘private players’ are extorting money from people.

While sharing the tea bill, a user said that the tax of 50 rupees on 20 rupees tea, really the economics of the country has changed, till now only history had changed!
On the other hand, another user says that more shirt is stitched than shirt cloth, then some user wrote – Do not know the difference between GST and service charge? Someone else said that take tea from home and take it, no service tax will be levied!
Not only this, a user corrected Deepak and said that it is not GST, but service charge. Many people say that the service charge of Rs 50 for a cup of tea is too much.
Railway officer told the truth
In the tea bill case going viral on social media, railway officials said that no extra money is being charged from any passenger. According to officials, whenever someone travels in trains like Rajdhani or Shatabdi, no service charges are levied if they have booked miles while making the reservation. If the passenger does not book the food while making the reservation, then he has to pay a service charge of Rs 50. Railway Board had also issued an order regarding this in 2018.
