SER: loading of 48.28 million tonnes in the first quarter, revenue up 63.71 percent. Rail Hunt

Kolkata. South Eastern Railway has carried 48.28 million tonnes of initial freight in the first quarter of the current financial year (2020-21) i.e. April to June, which is an increase of 54.05% over the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

The basic freight revenue has also increased by 63.71% as compared to the first quarter of the previous financial year. During April to June 2021, the freight income was Rs 4048.56 crore as against Rs 2472.99 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The main items of freight loading during the first quarter of 2021-22 were iron ore, coal, cast iron and finished steel, cement, food grains etc. SER has loaded 27.65 million tonnes of iron ore during this period, which is 42.82% higher than the corresponding period of last financial year.

Despite the pandemic situation, SER has continued to transport goods to keep the supply chain intact and has registered steady growth in both loading and revenue generation.
