Kolkata. Making South Eastern Railway a “Scrap Free Zone” is one of the mission areas of this Railway. As a result of continuous efforts to fulfill the mission, South Eastern Railway has contributed Rs. Scrap sold. Exceeded the annual scrap sales target of Rs 321.16 crore. 280 crore for the financial year 2021-22.
Scrap sale of Rs. This is 14.70% higher than the annual target of Rs 321.16 crore. The total scrap sales of the previous financial year stood at Rs. 280 crores and 35.51 percent more. 237 crores. This is the highest ever revenue earned by South Eastern Railway in the last ten years from the sale of scrap.
This commendable performance was achieved by selling 30,834 MT of scrap rails, 97,167 no. of concrete sleepers, 1,136 no. of waste wagons, 80 no. of waste wagons, 9 no. of diesel locomotives, 1,069 metric tonne of non-ferrous scrap, 20,137 metric tonne has gone. Iron scrap and other miscellaneous items.
Several railway quarters, cabins, other structures and buildings sold during the 2021-22 financial year were occupying valuable space and were hazardous to safety. Railway has earned valuable revenue by selling them on “as is where is” basis.
