Sensex today: Sensex breaks 4-day losing streak, up 166 points – Times of India

Mumbai: Equity benchmarks, ending their four-season losing streak Sensex On Friday, gains in Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and HDFC jumped 166 points.
After trading in a range throughout the day, the BSE 30-share index closed 166.07 points or 0.32 per cent higher at 52,484.67. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty closed 42.20 points or 0.27 per cent higher at 15,722.20.
Reliance Industries was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising over 1 per cent, followed by ICICI Bank, SBI, HDFC, M&M, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Titan and Infosys.
On the other hand, Tata Steel, PowerGrid, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma and Bajaj Auto were the laggards.
Binod Modi, Head (Strategy), Reliance Securities said, “Domestic stocks continued trading with benchmark indices with marginal gains.”
Financial, pharma and realty indices corrected marginally, but metals and FMCG counters saw profit-booking, he said, adding that midcap and smallcap indices continued to outperform as better earnings visibility attracted investors to the space.
Elsewhere in Asia, shares in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Seoul closed in the red, with Tokyo ending with gains.
Equities in Europe were trading on a positive note in mid-session deals.
Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude was trading marginally lower at $75.79 a barrel.
