Sensex Today: Domestic markets opened flat on Thursday amid mixed global cues.

The Sensex was up 39.24 points, or 0.07%, at 59,784.22. smelly was up 6.70 points, or 0.04%, at 17,561. Around 1092 scrips advanced, 708 scrips declined and 110 scrips remained unchanged.

ONGC, HCL Tech, UPL, BPCL and TCS were major gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints and Titan Company.

Meanwhile, the broader markets traded mixed as the Nifty Smallcap 100 index outperformed the Nifty Midcap 100 index.

Sectorally, Nifty IT and Nifty Metal indices were off to a decent start, while Nifty IT index was the worst hit as it declined over 1 per cent.

In individual stocks, Tata Steel shares Marginal gains came after the company acquired more shares of Neelachal Ispat Nigam for Rs 300 crore.

The Indian rupee opened at 82.77 per dollar on Thursday against the previous closing price of 82.85.

US equity markets closed unevenly overnight, following an aggressive minutes reading from the US Federal Reserve. While the Dow Jones, S&P 500 indices declined up to 0.2 per cent; The NASDAQ Composite climbed up to 0.1 percent.

Asia-Pacific markets were also mixed, with the Nikkei 225, Kospi, Kosdaq, Topix and Hang Seng indices adding up to 1 per cent each, while the S&P 200 was down 0.2 per cent.

In a basket of commodities, Brent crude and WTI crude prices rose 0.2 per cent each to $80 per barrel and $74 per barrel, respectively.
