Musk has started to deliver on his promise to remove bots
Twitter has been accused of hosting millions of spam/bot accounts and Musk wants to purge them, which means your followers may drop.
Spam has been at the top of the discussion for Elon Musk even before the deal to buy Twitter was finalized this year. And now, Musk has made it his mission to remove spam bot accounts from the platform.
Because of this, he warned people on Twitter that there could be a decline in the number of his followers in the coming weeks. Here’s his tweet claiming that Twitter is removing a lot of spam accounts, which means users may see a drop in their follower count. He didn’t say how long the activity would last, but it’s best to assume the purge could take a few weeks, if not more.

Musk is basically staying true to his promise to work on Twitter 2.0, which includes removing spam and bots from the platform. Twitter has gone through turmoil since their acquisition, with senior executives fired, and many employees told to report to the office and work within tight deadlines or face layoffs.
Twitter’s deal with Musk was also being hit hard by its reluctance to share the number of spam/bots on the platform. Twitter had claimed that less than 5 percent of accounts on the platform were likely fake, but never gave an exact figure during the discussion.
The situation was all the way to court before Musk decided to settle matters and finalize the deal at the expense of the first negotiation.
Now that his focus has shifted to Twitter and its operations, Musk is understanding the underlying aspects of running a social media company. He recently decided to take on Apple, accusing it of taking a 30 percent Apple tax on apps hosted on the App Store. The war between Musk and Tim Cook started early, but it seems both the companies have held talks and resolved all misunderstandings.
