In the Ramayana period, Shri Ram had performed the Ashwamedha Yagya and left his horse to conquer the world. Luv Kush caught this horse and tied it to the banyan tree. After this, when Shri Hanuman arrived to free the horse, Luv Kush also took him captive and tied him to a banyan tree. At the place where Shri Hanuman sat, Lav Kush himself installed the idol of Shri Hanuman. It is said that the place became famous as Bada Hanuman Mandir and the statue and banyan tree made by Luv Kush still exists today.
