Police said a woman BJP worker threw the phone in “provocation” and had no “malice”.

A mobile phone was thrown towards the Prime Minister Narendra Modi During his roadshow in Karnataka’s Mysuru on Sunday.

However, the police said that a woman BJP worker threw the phone in ‘provocation’ and had no ‘malice’.

The phone landing on the bonnet of a specially designed vehicle after being thrown at the vehicle went unnoticed by the Prime Minister, who signaled the object to the Special Protection Group (SPG) officials who were accompanying him.

“The Prime Minister was under the protection of the SPG. The woman (whose phone fell on the PM’s vehicle) was a BJP worker. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Alok Kumar told, SPG men later returned him PTI,

“It was thrown in provocation (of the incident) and had no (ill) intention, but we are trying to trace the woman as the SPG officials had handed over the phone to her,” he added.

The incident took place when Modi, along with Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha and former ministers KS Eshwarappa and SA Ramadoss, was waving to a large number of people gathered on both sides of the road.

With the mega roadshow, PM Modi concluded his two-day campaign tour of Karnataka during which he addressed six public rallies.

Modi arrived in the heritage city from Beluru in Hassan district in a specially designed vehicle after addressing his third public meeting in the state this evening.

Addressing a rally in Belur, PM Modi attacked the Congress over “infighting” in the party, saying it has become its specialty wherever it is in power.

The Prime Minister also targeted the JD(S) and termed it as the ‘B-Team’ of the Congress.

He said, ‘This time Karnataka has decided to end the decades-old politics of manipulation. Both Congress and JD(S) are signs of instability. In the states where the Congress has been in power, its identity has been due to the rivalry of its leaders. You (people) are also seeing what is happening in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

Sharpening his attack on the grand old party, the Prime Minister said the main objective of its leaders is to serve one family sitting in Delhi, while the JD(S) is purely a “private limited party of one family”.
