The Indian Embassy in Doha on Sunday brought back the second batch of Indians from Afghanistan. The embassy said in a tweet that 146 Indian nationals brought from Afghanistan to Doha were brought back to India today.

In the first batch, Qatar on Saturday brought back 135 Indians evacuated from Afghanistan. The embassy said the authorities provided consular and logistical support to ensure the safe return of the counterparts.

Meanwhile, India on Sunday brought back 392 people, including two Afghan lawmakers, in three separate flights as part of its mission to evacuate Indians and Afghan partners from Kabul.

Another group of 87 Indians and two Nepalese nationals were brought back from Dushanbe in a special Air India flight, a day after they were taken to the capital of Tajikistan in an IAF 130J transport aircraft, officials said.

News agency ANI quoted government sources as saying that India has been given permission to operate two flights daily from Kabul to evacuate its citizens stranded in Afghanistan.

Several countries, including India, are facing difficulties in evacuating people from Kabul in the wake of the chaos around the airport in the Afghan capital following the Taliban takeover.

Thousands of Afghan citizens are also trying to leave the country, fearing a strict Taliban regime. An Afghan woman who fled to India on Sunday said the situation in the country was “worsening” and her house was burnt down by the Taliban. A woman, her daughter and two grandchildren were among 168 people evacuated from Kabul on Sunday by an Indian Air Force heavy military transport aircraft.
