Schools to reopen in Puducherry from July 16

Puducherry: Chief Minister N Rangaswamy said that all schools for students of classes 9-12 in the Union Territory of Puducherry will reopen from July 16. Apart from schools, colleges in the union territory will reopen on the same day.

Meanwhile, there has been a decline in Covid cases in Puducherry. Director of Health and Family Welfare Services S Mohan Kumar said on Sunday that 145 cases of Kovid-19 have been registered without any death in the last 24 hours. It is after six months that no Covid-related death has been reported in the UT. So far 1,769 people have died due to this deadly virus.

According to Tamilisai Soundararajan, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory, the vaccination drive in Puducherry has been successful so far: “Vaccination done in Puducherry, we have crossed over 5 lakh vaccinations. Our aim is to cover the entire Union Territory before 15th August. Vaccination has to be done. People hesitated to vaccinate but now they have overcome it. As per our plan, Puducherry will be fully vaccinated before August 15.”
