Schools in Delhi will reopen for classes 9-12 from February 7, nursery to class 8 from February 14

New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said that schools in Delhi will open for students of classes 9-12 from February 7 while those for students from nursery to class 8 will reopen from February 14, news agency ANI reported.

The ANI report states that online classes will continue for the students.

Sisodia made the announcement while addressing a press conference after the review meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).

Sisodia, who is also the education minister of Delhi, said that as per the ANI report, the hybrid classes will continue.

He requested the colleges to encourage offline classes.

As quoted by Sisodia, the ANI report said that colleges will reopen from Monday, February 7 and they will be asked to discourage online classes and hold offline classes.

The Education Minister of Delhi also announced that all restaurants will now remain open till 11 pm.

Sisodia further said that all government and private offices have been allowed to function at 100 per cent capacity. He said gyms and swimming pools have also been allowed to reopen.

Delhi recorded 2,668 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours. The positivity rate came down to 4.3 percent.

Lieutenant Governor Anil Baikal had recently decided to lift the weekend curfew and odd-even arrangement for shops.

Shops and establishments in markets, market complexes and malls dealing with non-essential goods and services will be allowed to remain open between 10 am and 8 pm IST. In this case the restriction of odd-even does not apply.
