Along with introducing the use of masks and sanitizers, the COVID-19 pandemic has also led to a rise in cyber frauds. Since the beginning of last year, when the coronavirus was spreading its wings across the world, increasingly sophisticated scams have seen an increasing amount of damage. To create awareness about the same among its customers, State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a warning to beware of cyber fraudsters.
Although complete security cannot be guaranteed in online transactions, hackers are always able to find a way to break into people’s accounts and steal their money. In its latest tweet, SBI has requested customers not to fall prey to links promising any kind of gifts or cash. The bank asked them not to click on such links as cyber fraudsters could be behind it.
SBI also cautioned people not to download apps on their smartphones or computer systems, which promote any kind of phishing. Customers were suggested to check the authenticity, reviews and comments of an app before downloading it. Proper research should be done before personally downloading any financial app. The bank further advised people not to divulge important and personal information.

SBI also said that the KYC fraud is genuine, and it was spread across the country through a tweet. He informed the customers not to click on any link which asks them to update KYC. By clicking on these phishing links, a person can lose his personal and confidential information.
Cyber fraudsters are also duping people by making fake links of well-known companies and banks. Fraudsters pretend to be bank employees and ask customers to click on a link and update personal details on the pretext of providing door-to-door services.
SBI in a tweet further directed people to file complaint reports of such cyber frauds or scams at http://cybercrime.gov.in. He assured that SBI Bank will never send messages to the customers asking for KYC updates.
