Sawan Somvar 2023: Timings, Puja Vidhi, Samagri, Rituals And Mantras To Chant On This Auspicious Day

Sawan Somvar Vrat 2023 Puja Vidhi, Shubh Muhurat, Timings, Mantra: Sawan, also known as Shravan or Sawan, has begun. Hindus consider the entire month of Sawan to be auspicious and during this time devotees pay respect to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.

This year is particularly lucky, as due to the longer Shravan month, Shravan will last for two months after a long gap of 19 years. This year instead of four, eight Sawan Somvars or Mondays will be celebrated and Sawan will last for 59 days.

The holy month began on Tuesday, July 4 and will end on Thursday, August 31. Meanwhile, Sawan Somvar Vrat will start from July 10. On August 28, the last Sawan Monday fast will be observed.

Every Monday or Monday during the holy month of Sawan, devotees visit the temple and offer milk, flowers, holy water and bael leaves to Shiva. Tuesday is specially dedicated to Goddess Parvati or Mangalavar. According to Drik Panchang, fasting on Tuesdays during this month is called Mangal Gauri Vrat.

Sawan Monday 2023: Shubh Muhurat

The month of Sawan will begin this year on Tuesday, July 4. Sawan Monday refers to a Monday falling on the Sawan calendar. Usually there are five Mondays in the month of Sawan, but in 2023 there will be only four. August 31, Thursday, is the last day of the month.

Meanwhile, Sawan Somvar Vrat will start from 10th July. On August 28, the last Sawan Monday fast will be observed.

Sawan Monday 2023: Puja Vidhi

Only fruits and water are consumed during Sawan Somvar Vrat by the followers of Lord Shiva. Dry fruits, nuts, sago, water chestnut flour, bottle gourd, potato, sweet potato, milk, paneer and ghee are also edible for them.

Devotees offer Bilva/Belpatra and Panchamrit – a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, gangajal and honey – to Lord Shiva. Additionally, worshipers recite the Shravan Somvar Vrat Katha and wear Rudraksha beads on Mondays. On the day of the fast, devotees are advised to wake up early during Brahma Muhurta, clean the house to remove waste products, and sprinkle Gangajal throughout the house.

Sawan Monday 2023: Puja Samagri

Water, curd, milk, sugar, ghee, honey, panchamrit, cloth, janeu, sandalwood, raw rice, flowers, bel patra/leaves, bhang, dhatura, kamal gatta, prasad, betel nut, cloves, cardamom, dry fruits and Dakshina Sawan Each part of the Monday material.

Also, worshiping Lord Shiva using turmeric, ketaki flowers or tulsi plant is prohibited.

Sawan Somwar: Mantras to Chant

‘Om Namah Shivay – Om Hree Hraun Namah Shivay’

‘ Mahamrityunjaya Mantra- ‘om Yes Jun S: Om Bhurbhuva: Swah Om Trimbakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam Urvarukamiv Bandhananmrityormukshiya Mamritat Om Swah Bhuva: Bhu: Om S: Jam Haun Om.

These mantras are chanted by the sadhaks. Shiv Aarti is also performed on this auspicious day.
