Vadodara: The bail application of a 22-year-old man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl was rejected by the Additional Sessions Court. Savali on Thursday. According to the police, the girl did not go to her school that day and instead met Tohid in Savali.
After this both went to Sayajibagh where the accused took her to the bushes and raped her. Then he dropped her in an auto-rickshaw at Savli and left. The girl informed her family about the incident following which a complaint was lodged against Tohid. The girl also revealed that Tohid had called her on his phone more than a year ago.
He told her that he got his number from his school friend and wanted to be friends with her. They met on the Savli-Jawla road in September 2021 and again in December. Tohid’s counsel argued that he has been in jail for a long time and the complaint evidence against him is meager.
Claiming that the arrest of the accused is illegal, the lawyer also submitted that Tohid has movable and immovable properties and is unlikely to be absconding.
The Public Prosecutor argued that the accused may jump out of bail and interfere in the investigation. He also said that it is nothing but a direct act of rape which will not entitle the applicant to the relief sought by him.
