Thiruvananthapuram: After withdrawal of night curfew and stringent lockdown measures on Sunday in view of rising COVID-19 cases in the state, Kerala government It was decided to restore Saturdays as working days, wherever applicable, on Tuesday.
“All employees are directed to report for duty accordingly (on Saturday),” an order issued. disaster management department said.
It states that on 4th August all government office, Semi-Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Companies, Autonomous Bodies and Commissions were allowed to function with full attendance from Monday to Friday.
It said, “After assessing the current COVID-19 scenario and restrictions imposed in the state, the government is pleased to restore Saturdays as working days, wherever applicable.”
The state government has also decided to restore the biometric entry system for employees of government, semi-government and public sector undertakings from September 16 in view of the relaxation in the COVID-19 restrictions.
It said that employees can use their identity cards to access the biometric entry system.
The biometric entry system was discontinued from March last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. on Monday, Kerala had reported 15,058 fresh COVID-19 cases and 99 deaths, taking the total infections to 43,90,489 and the death toll to 22,650.
The test positivity rate (TPR) was recorded at 16.39 per cent.
In addition, 28,439 people have recovered from the infection since Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 41,58,504 and active cases to 2,08,773.
