Manisha Koirala revealed that she was scared after reading the Heeramandi script.

Manisha Koirala’s portrayal of the ruthless character Mallikajaan in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has been praised for its effortless depth and complexity. However, behind the seamless performance lies a story of unflagging dedication and perseverance.

In a recent interview with Zoom, the 53-year-old actress spoke about the challenges she faced while bringing Mallikajaan to the screen. She revealed that she was scared after reading the script.

“I knew the role would be very demanding and I would put in a lot of effort in it. But I have to take care of my health too. Mujhe maalum nahi tha main yeh role kar paungi ya nahi (I didn’t know if I would be able to play this role or not). Ki main itni mehnat kar paungi. (Will I be able to do the hard work?) Kya mera jo shareer hai (Will my body)… I feel it is a new body for me. Will I be able to do it or not?”, she said.

Manisha Koirala also shared that she had to sit for seven hours straight for a shot in Heeramandi.

“If I didn’t have that zeal or passion to do it, then no one could do it. You won’t be able to sit in the same position even for two hours. I had to sit in that uncomfortable zone for seven hours”, she added.

Earlier, Manisha Koirala had also revealed the much-talked-about oral sex scene between her and Shekhar Suman in the series. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, the actress revealed that she was not fully aware of the scene and added, “See, every little thing that Sanjay does, he tries to bring in a new element that we had not thought of and he does. So even that scene must have been new when the rehearsals were going on.”

Released on May 1, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar marks the OTT debut of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
