Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi rang on saturday Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar will inquire about the January 2 incident Karimnagar And the circumstances that led to his arrest. Bandi, who is also the MP from Karimnagar, was arrested during a sit-in against GO 317 over transfer of government employees.
Sources said the talks lasted 15 minutes and Modi took minute-by-minute details. Party sources told STOI that Sanjay told Modi about GO 317 and how the employees were upset with the entire transfer process. He also gave details of how the police stormed the protest site at his camp office in Karimnagar and arrested him using force.
Bandi apprised the PM about how the BJP had to change the plan to hold the dharna in view of the COVID-19 restrictions and shift the venue from Hyderabad to Karimnagar.
Sanjay is believed to have told Modi that support for the Bharatiya Janata Party was growing in Telangana. According to sources, the PM has asked them to continue fighting for the issues of the people within the framework of the Constitution and as per the rules.
The prime minister also reportedly told Sanjay that the TRS was unhappy with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory beginning with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections in December 2020. Modi assured Sanjay that the party’s central leadership would support the efforts of the state party unit. Solidarity with all Bharatiya Janata Party workers present in Karimnagar on 2nd January.
Ever since Sanjay was arrested and later released after being granted bail by the High Court, the BJP has been making the issue political capital by bringing in party national leaders to campaign against the TRS in the state. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be in Telangana on Sunday to express solidarity with Sanjay, following the visit of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is also scheduled to visit the state soon. Sources said the Bharatiya Janata Party is making every effort to send a strong message to the TRS leadership that it is strongly supporting its state party chief.
