Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, most known for directing ‘Arjun Reddy’ and its Hindi remake ‘Kabir Singh’, is busy promoting his latest flick ‘Animal’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. The film is getting appreciated across the globe and is headed towards breaking many box office records. On the other hand, he is still asked about the glorification of misogyny and toxic masculinity in his debut Hindi film, ‘Kabir Singh’. Recently, when he was again asked about the controversial non-consensual kissing scene in the film, Sandeep refuted claims of film being misogynistic or problematic.
Speaking with CNN-News 18, Vanga openly defended the kissing scene in the movie and stated that he did not take the controversies around the film seriously. He said “I didn’t think much about it. I don’t think that Kabir Singh was a misogynistic film. Only four-five people felt offended, and created noise about it. I never took them seriously.”
He was further told that there were more than just a few people who found fault with the film. Responding to this, Vanga said that there were just four people who wrote articles about it, and that inspired others to write more articles.

He added, “Not more than 20 people in total, it was their point-of-view. We should not talk about all that, bhool jao Kabir Singh ko (forget about Kabir Singh).”
Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead roles released in 2019. The film became a huge box office success but at the same time was much criticized for the portrayal and justification of toxic masculinity and misogyny.
