Not every day companies upgrade their TV remotes, but we do get to see some weird things at the Consumer Electronics Show. This year, Samsung has unveiled a new TV remote that not only supports solar charting but can also juice up the battery by “collecting router radio waves.” Which converts the router’s radio waves into energy. Similar to last year’s Echo Remote for 2021 Smart TVs, this year’s remote (name not specified) can receive light through outdoor as well as indoor lights.

Samsung notes that it is introducing a white model of the remote this year to better complement its “lifestyle” TVs like the Serif, The Frame, and the Cero. The company appears to be looking to forgo AAA batteries for more eco-friendly options. Samsung previously estimated that 99 million wasted batteries could be avoided over the course of seven years by switching to a solar-powered remote. For the time being, we are yet to hear from Samsung and more will be revealed once CES 2022 starts on January 5.

Samsung has also unveiled its 2022 lineup of smart TVs with Micro LED and Neo QLED panels. The 2022 Micro LED TV supports 4K resolution up to 120fps. On the other hand, the 2022 editions of The Frame, The Cero and The Serif will get matte, anti-glare, anti-reflection and anti-fingerprint coating for a more “comfortable viewing experience”. TV will let users buy NFTs through TV. This feature is available in the 2022 editions of Micro LED, Neo QLED, and Frame TVs. The 2022 TV models will support a vertical interface, including Smart Hub, and offer a vertical multi-view feature. This will essentially help users watch TikTok and YouTube shorts.
