Samsung: Samsung teases new PCIe 5.0 SSD with twice the performance of PCIe 4.0 – Times of India

samsung Has its latest PCIe 5.0 . has teased ssd Which is claimed to offer twice the speed and about 30% more power efficiency than the current generation.
Dubbed as PM1743SSD, it is designed for enterprise servers and claims to offer speeds of up to 13,000MB/s. The company also claims that the SSD can handle input and output operations of up to 2500K per second (IOPS), almost twice as much as PCIe 4.0 can handle.
According to Samsung, PCIe 5.0 32 . provides bandwidth of giga Transfers per second (GT/s), double that of PCIe 4.0. The SSD uses a proprietary controller designed to support the latest PCIe standard.
Furthermore, the SSD is rated to deliver sequential write speeds of 6,600MB/s and a rundown write speed of 250K IOPS, which is almost twice the performance of PCIe 4.0.
In addition, the new SSD can deliver improved power efficiency of up to 608 MB/s per watt, which represents an increase of about 30% over the previous generation. According to the company, this is expected to significantly reduce the operating costs of servers and data centers, while also helping to reduce their carbon footprint.
SSD Available in various capacities from 1.92 terabytes (TB) to 15.36 TB, the PM1743 will be offered in the traditional 2.5-inch form factor as well as the 3-inch EDSFF (E3.s).
