Samsung is bringing another security feature

The company has been improving its security features for mobiles and this is the latest addition.

Android phones are susceptible to hacking and spyware that usually arrives on the device in the form of attachments, web links or images. Samsung is focused on replacing the risks you face with Android as platforms like Samsung Knox provide an additional layer of security.

Now, the company is rolling out another tool that will ensure that all images are scanned in the background before being opened. Samsung is calling it Message Guard which is compatible with Samsung and Google’s Messages apps for now.

Zero-day exploits pose a huge risk to many smartphone users, even allowing bad actors to illegally gain access to your device and all the data residing on it. Samsung wants to help prevent that with Message Guard. Samsung also mentions that other third-party apps (hopefully like WhatsApp) will be offered with Message Guard, which can prevent a lot of accidents.

It is said that, for the initial phase of its launch, Samsung is offering Message Guard to anyone buying the new Galaxy S23 series phones. And later this year, other Galaxy phones will get the feature as well. This is another useful addition from Samsung that we wish Google would integrate into Android for all devices in the near future.

You cannot expect all mobile users to have the understanding to beware of content from unknown sources. But features like these can at least reduce any damage the user might do. Android 14 is going to see a lot of improvement on this front, as third-party app stores can finally work like any other app on Android phones.

We look forward to seeing how Message Guard works and whether it reduces the number of scams and hijacks that people encounter.
