Samajwadi Party borrows coin of ‘Khela Hoi’ in Varanasi for 2022 elections from TMC’s ‘Khela Hobe’ in Bengal

The political countdown for the 2022 state assembly elections has begun and all the political parties are gearing up for the upcoming elections as well. Taking lessons from Trinamool Congress’s ‘khela hobe’ slogan during the West Bengal state assembly elections, Samajwadi Party leaders have now adopted the Bhojpuri version of the slogan. Some local Samajwadi Party leaders have raised slogans of ‘2022 Mein Khela Ho’ on the walls of Varanasi, which is also considered the pivot of Purvanchal politics.

Wall paintings bearing the slogan ‘2022 Mein Khela Ho’ along with Samajwadi Party’s ‘Cycle’ emblem were seen at some places in Varanasi, which is also Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency. Now this slogan has become a topic of discussion in the streets of Varanasi.

This slogan has been written by Samajwadi Party leader and former MLA Abdul Samad Ansari. Samad Ansari has filled the walls of his entire house with this painting and slogan. Not only this, Ansari has also demanded from Akhilesh Yadav to issue a guideline to all the leaders of the Samajwadi Party on the lines of West Bengal to do the same thing. Ansari said, “The way didi and the people of Bengal have played with the BJP, in the same way Bhojpuri society will play with the ruling party.”

Interestingly, famous Bhojpuri actor and singer Khesari Lal Yadav met Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Tuesday evening, sparking speculation that he would join the party. The SP chief had tweeted pictures of their meeting and wrote that he talked about ‘cycle in 2022’, which is the political slogan of the Samajwadi Party ahead of next year’s state elections.

Khesari Lal Yadav has been a sharp critic of the BJP on many issues including farmers’ protests. He has openly opposed the central government through his tweets in the past as well. He has significant followers in the Purvanchal and UP-Bihar border areas. Many videos of his songs collect millions of views.

The Bhojpuri version of ‘Khela Hobe’ has been the subject of much discussion in Varanasi. However, only time will tell how effective this Bhojpuri version of ‘Khela Hobe’ will be in the 2022 state assembly elections.
